Unsaturated polyester putty (putty)
1. What is the best dosage of curing agent?
A: generally, the curing agent should be within 1% - 4%, and the optimal dosage is 2%. Mixing should be uniform, so that the color of the mixture is uniform, uneven will make the adhesion of the place with more curing agent decreased, less curing is not sufficient.
2. If the viscosity of putty is very thick, can we add solvent, what kind of solvent is better?
A: if the user wants to make the consistency of the putty thinner, a little styrene can be added appropriately, but the amount should not be too much, and the mixing should be even, otherwise it will slow down the solidification of the putty. In particular, we should not add Xina water, xylene, toluene, gasoline and other solvents to the putty products, let alone white latex, water and other substances, otherwise it will lead to the non solidification of the putty.
3. What are the reasons why the putty does not solidify?
(1) If the curing agent fails, the shelf life of the curing agent at room temperature is one year. If the user stores the curing agent at a relatively high temperature, the shelf life will be significantly shortened. Therefore, it is necessary to first check whether the curing agent has expired (see the spray code), and then check whether the curing agent has a pungent smell. If the smell is very strong, it will generally fail. Finally, the recent curing agent and the original atomic ash can be used for experiments To identify the quality of curing agent.
(2) Some solvents are added by the user himself, and the general solvent has the effect of inhibiting polymerization to a certain extent. In order to dilute the product for the convenience of use, the user may not find problems in the thick coating, but may not solidify in the thin coating. In addition, the solvent will reduce the adhesion and may cause foaming phenomenon.
(3) When the humidity is too high or the humidity of the coating surface is too high, when the coating surface contacts with a large amount of moisture, the polymerization inhibition effect of water is obvious, which slows down the curing speed. If the crosslinking agent does not solidify for a long time, the product cannot be solidified (no matter how long the time is), or the strength is not high after curing. Especially in the case of thin coating, the humidity of the coated surface is too high, which will produce the same phenomenon. Therefore, when the coating is too thin, the construction should not be carried out in rainy days. The surface of the coating (substrate) must be dry to ensure the quality.
If the construction must be carried out when the humidity is high, the solution is to heat the coated surface with an electric blower to remove moisture.
4. What is the cause of air bubbles on the surface of the coating after solidification of putty?
There are several reasons for the surface blistering of putty after solidification
(1) If the amount of curing agent is too large, the reaction is too fast and bubbles are produced.
(2) The ash may be mixed with other solvents and bubbles will be produced during the reaction.
5. What are the reasons for the falling off of putty after solidification?
(1) If the coating surface is not well treated and there are low strength attachments, dust and oil stains on the surface, it can be determined according to the situation of the peeling surface.
(2) Atomic ash is coated on some hard to stick metals, such as galvanized sheet, tin plate, etc.
(3) After coating, it may fall off after baking at high temperature for a long time. Ge Liang Hao brand atomic ash will not fall off for an hour at a temperature less than 140 ℃.
(4) The baking process is within 5 hours after the putty coating, because the curing is not sufficient, the strength and adhesion do not reach the maximum, so it is easy to fall off. It is suggested that the baking process should be carried out after curing for 24 hours.
(5) In the process of coating, the amount of curing agent is too large, the adhesion is not good, and it may fall off.
6. What measures should be taken to speed up the solidification of putty?
Infrared lamp, incandescent lamp or other heating tools can be used for auxiliary heating, but local overheating should be avoided to reduce the adhesion of the putty. In addition, the auxiliary heating should not be in a hurry and a certain heating curve should be followed.
7. What should be paid attention to when using putty on wood surface?
(1) Drying of wood
New wood contains a lot of moisture, which may cause the putty layer to fall off, crack, blister and other phenomena without treatment. Before construction, it should be stored in a well ventilated place to dry naturally or enter the drying room to dry at low temperature. Generally, the moisture content should be controlled within 8% - 12%.
(2) Surface planing and grinding
Planed mechanically or manually, and then start grinding. First, the surfaces of the two pieces of sandpaper are rubbed against each other to remove the occasional coarse sand particles, and then they are polished. After grinding, wipe the sawdust and other impurities with a rag.
(3) Remove wood grease
Due to different tree species, some wood often adhere to or secrete wood fat, wood pulp and other substances, in the case of a slightly higher temperature, this secretion and will overflow, resulting in the coating surface appeared spots, floating color and other defects. First, remove the precipitates with a shovel, then wipe with organic solvent to dissolve the wood grease, and then wipe with dry cloth.
